Robin Taylor Found His People

Fan Fiction, Safety, and Mrs. Rocky's Inspiration

“The best writers out there (meaning the ones who are satisfied with what they do) are the ones who develop relationships and community, first and foremost, as a synthesis of their writing process.”

I’m turning 58 next week as I find myself turning into a fangirl.

Substack, as most of you know, is rich with fabulosity, and the more people I discover, the more overjoyed I am to be here. Writer Robin Taylor and I became acquainted thanks to Mr. Troy Ford and Qstack, and I literally shrieked and leaped when I received his message agreeing to this interview. As Robin confirmed to me when we talked, flattery, apparently, will get me everywhere.

This fascinating conversation ambled all over the place; if you saw an itinerary, you’d feel dizzy. From his second grade teacher to his Substack, Trans Friend, from beginning in fan fiction to compiling a collection of essays by and about trans kids, from the impetus to start SmallStack to an exploration of his passion for storytelling, Robin’s tales are packed with inspiration, humor, and warmth.

Like me, Robin is committed to relationships as part of his writing practice. Come connect with him. Come enjoy and be inspired.

Also, please run, don’t walk, to Robin’s two Substack projects: Trans Friend and SmallStack. If you like what you see, consider a subscription. These are two gems and absolute favorites of mine.
